Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Christian Match (“we”, “us”, “our”, “the platform”), a faith-centred online dating service for adults. By registering, signing in, or using the service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Christian Match.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement.
You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
You may hold only one personal account unless we approve otherwise in writing.
We focus on members in Nigeria. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with local laws where you access the service.

2. Your account

You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for activity on your account.
Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
Email verification may be required before certain features (such as appearing in Discover or sending likes).
Phone verification may be required when SMS is enabled on the site.
You may deactivate your account under Account → Privacy. Deactivation stops sign-in until an administrator restores access; it is not the same as permanent deletion.

3. Your profile and content

You control much of what appears on your profile through the fields you complete and your privacy settings (Discover visibility, public photo, location display, and incoming messages).

You represent that information and photos you upload are truthful, belong to you (or you have permission to use them), and are appropriate for a Christian dating community.
You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, display, and process your content as needed to operate the service (e.g. showing your profile to other members according to your settings).
You retain ownership of your content. You may remove much of it by editing your profile or deleting your account; residual copies may persist in backups or logs as described in our Privacy Policy.
Blog posts, comments, and success stories you submit may be moderated before or after publication.

4. Community standards

Christian Match exists to help believers connect with sincerity and respect. You agree not to:

Harass, threaten, stalk, abuse, or demean any person
Post or send sexually explicit material, hate speech, or content that promotes violence or illegal activity
Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, marital status, or intentions
Solicit money, gifts, investments, or financial details from other members
Spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the platform or its security
Use the service for commercial solicitation, escort services, or non-dating purposes
Circumvent blocks, bans, rate limits, or Premium or credit restrictions
Upload malware or attempt unauthorised access to accounts or systems

We may investigate reports, remove content, warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these standards or our Safety tips. Serious violations may be referred to law enforcement.

5. Matching, Discover, and messaging

Discover lets you browse profiles and like or pass. A match occurs when two members like each other.
Free members may have daily limits on likes and a lifetime cap on messages; Premium members receive expanded access as described on the Premium page.
Messages are available between matched members subject to each person’s message privacy settings.
We do not guarantee that you will receive likes, matches, replies, or offline meetings. Compatibility and conduct between members are their own responsibility.
Use Block and Report tools when another member behaves inappropriately.

6. Premium, credits, and payments

6.1 Premium subscription

Premium is a paid subscription that unlocks features such as unlimited likes and messages, seeing who liked you, profile visitors, and viewing match photos in certain privacy scenarios. Exact benefits and prices are shown on the Premium page at checkout and may change over time.

6.2 Credits

Credits are optional micro-purchases for one-off unlocks (e.g. revealing a liker or visitor, extra Discover filters, or sending messages after free limits). Credit costs and packs are listed on the Credits page. Premium members may receive bonus credits when subscribing.

6.3 Payment processing

Payments are processed by third-party providers (e.g. Paystack, Flutterwave, Monnify) or by manual bank transfer where offered. We do not store your full card or bank credentials. By paying, you also agree to the relevant provider’s terms.

6.4 Renewals and expiry

Subscription periods run for the plan you purchase (e.g. monthly or yearly). Renewing before expiry typically extends your end date. When Premium expires, paid features revert to free-tier limits until you renew.

6.5 Refunds

Except where required by law, fees for Premium and credits are non-refundable once access or credits have been granted. If you believe a charge was made in error (e.g. duplicate payment before activation), contact us within 14 days at the address on our Contact page with your account email and payment reference. Bank-transfer payments are confirmed manually; Premium or credits apply after we verify receipt.

7. Identity verification

Optional identity verification (KYC) may be offered to reduce fraud. If you submit documents, you confirm they are genuine and authorise us to review them. Approval or rejection is at our discretion. Verification status does not constitute a background check or endorsement of character.

8. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. You may export much of your data from Account → My data export.

9. Intellectual property

Christian Match, its branding, software, and site content (excluding member-submitted content) are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our platform or content except as allowed by these Terms or with our written permission.

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you breach these Terms, create risk for other members, or if required by law. You may deactivate your account at any time. Provisions that by nature should survive (including disclaimers, liability limits, and dispute sections) continue after termination.

11. Disclaimers

Christian Match is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law:

We do not guarantee matches, marriage, or any particular outcome from using the service.
We do not conduct comprehensive background checks on every member. Identity verification, when offered, is limited in scope.
We are not responsible for the conduct of members online or offline, or for meetings arranged through the platform.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

You use the service and interact with other members at your own risk. Read our Safety tips and exercise sound judgment.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, Christian Match and its operators, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or interactions with other members.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) ₦10,000, except where liability cannot be limited by law.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your content, your breach of these Terms, or your interactions with other members, except to the extent caused by our wilful misconduct.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version at /legal/terms and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree to attempt good-faith resolution with us before formal proceedings. Subject to mandatory consumer protections, courts in Nigeria shall have jurisdiction over disputes that cannot be resolved informally.
